Hydrant
Flushing 2023 - May 15 through May 19 and May 22 through May 26.
On May 15 through May 26, between the hours of 9 AM and 5
PM
Fayson Lake Water Company will be flushing the water system through
fire hydrants. Hydrant
flushing is necessary to test the hydrants to make sure adequate flow
and pressure is available. Flushing is also done to remove sediment
from the pipes in order to maintain water clarity and quality in the
distribution pipes. This sediment
does not affect water quality, but can cause water to become
discolored. The water is safe to drink and discoloration often
disappears within a short time. Motorists are urged to slow down
where flushing is taking place and to exercise caution. Residents
are also advised not to wash clothing while lines are being flushed in
or around their neighborhoods. In addition, it is always
advisable to check the color of the water before doing any
laundry. This process could result in discolored/cloudy
water or low pressure or no water during and immediately following the
daily
flushing. If you experience discolored water after the hours of
flushing, open the outside water
faucets or cold water faucets on the lowest floor of the house and let
it run
until the water clears.
Hydrant flushing in
any
part
of the Township can cause discolored water in another area.
However, it
is more likely to happen when the flushing is actively taking place in
a
neighborhood.
We will initially start flushing hydrants in
route Two (May 15th-18th) then route One (May 18th-may 22nd) then route
Three and Four (May 22nd-May 26th). If you don't know
your route please click on Route Locator and a new page will open
and show you the routes.
