April 2017

Hydrant Flushing - April 17 through May 12.

On April 17 through May 12, between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM Fayson Lake Water Company will be flushing the water system through fire hydrants.  Hydrant flushing is necessary to test the hydrants to make sure adequate flow and pressure is available. Flushing is also done to remove sediment from the pipes in order to maintain water clarity and quality in the distribution pipes.  This sediment does not affect water quality, but can cause water to become discolored.  The water is safe to drink and discoloration often disappears within a short time.  Motorists are urged to slow down where flushing is taking place and to exercise caution.  Residents are also advised not to wash clothing while lines are being flushed in or around their neighborhoods.  In addition, it is always advisable to check the color of the water before doing any laundry.  This process could result in discolored/cloudy water or low pressure or no water during and immediately following the daily flushing.  If you experience discolored water after the hours of flushing, open the outside water faucets or cold water faucets on the lowest floor of the house and let it run until the water clears.

Hydrant flushing in any part of the Township can cause discolored water in another area.  However, it is more likely to happen when the flushing is actively taking place in a neighborhood.

We will initially start flushing hydrants in route Two then route One then route Three then route Four.  Working out From the Galloway tank to the farthest point of that system. Then working out from Cliff tank to the farthest point of that system. If you don't know your route please click on Route Locator and a new page will open and show you the routes.

Fayson lake Water Company regrets any temporary inconvenience you may experience; however, this operation is necessary for us to ensure the continued cleanliness of the water distribution system.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this operation.
